Many polished concrete floors in educational facilities have received recognition under the US Green Building Council LEED for Schools program for eliminating the need for harsh cleaning materials and improving the indoor air quality, known as IAQ.  Studies have shown that the cost of polishing is offset by the reduced costs for maintenance and materials, as well as eliminating the repeated replacement of floor coverings.

Polished Concrete Plus consults with architects, designers and builders on the specifications. Sometimes special high performance mix-designs are warranted. There are many options to consider, including the incorporation of under-floor heating systems that reduce heating costs. During new concrete construction the ready mixed concrete can be colored and the size of aggregates can be selected and revealed during polishing. The surface of existing older concrete can be permanently colored, stained or dyed. Either a high gloss or low sheen appearance can be specified.

PCP uses superior heavy-duty polishing equipment during an 8 to 12-step process. The number of steps depends upon traffic expectations in use.  Sometimes fewer steps are used in small residential projects. The treatments applied during the process improve the density and strength of the concrete matrix. The improved surface density negates the need for coatings that may delaminate, however commercial floor polish may be recommended in some situations.

POLISHED CONCRETE PLUS will work with you to make sure polished concrete is the right choice. Not all concrete slabs are structurally stable enough for polishing. PCP can evaluate suitability or recommend alternatives if necessary. Polished concrete is our core business and we have invested in the equipment and staff training to do it correctly.
