Kevin is a second generation concrete and masonry contractor, who gained experience in his father’s concrete construction business starting at the age of 15. His work ethic was shaped by his experience in the family business. He moved to Sauk Rapids, Minnesota in 1987 to found his own business, K Johnson Construction, Inc. As he noticed the increasing demand for concrete polishing, he personally attained certifications and decided to create a specialized division in 2003. It was originally known as PCI floors, but later was renamed Polished Concrete Plus to encompass a wider range of services. As the company has grown, it has taken on other areas of specialization, as well. Kevin holds NRMCA Pervious Concrete certification, in addition to certification as an ACI Flatwork Finisher. He emphasizes the importance of training at all levels in the companies, from sponsoring employees to take specialized courses that improve their skills to requiring certification in safety and CPR for supervisors.
Kevin’s personal philosophy sets the tone for both businesses. He says,
“We go out of our way to achieve customer satisfaction by being fair and honest. That includes leaving the jobsite in good order at the end of the day. I ask employees to treat each customer, as you would want to be treated. We stand behind our work – start to finish.”
